The Internet
An incredibly self-indulgent piece from time to time is crucial to keeping your creativity and inspiration fresh. Creating an illustration based on a popular song from the musical comedian Bo Burnham was my very dose of indulgence during a period I’d been feeling a fair bit of designer’s block. After falling in love with the comedian’s most recent Netflix special “Inside,” I felt motivated to make a piece inspired off of one of the songs in his show titled “Welcome to the Internet.” Since the song is a caricature of the history of the internet and our interaction with it over time, I wanted to utilize various typographic families and a small range of different emotional expressions from the comic to convey a portion of the overarching message present in the song.
